These are the gum trees at the bottom of the driveway on Mum and Dad’s farm outside of Kingaroy- where I grew up. Many days were spent playing under these tangled branches and stripy bark. When visiting recently I was captivated by the golden glow of the afternoon sun setting and bouncing off of the stripping, textured bark and browning leaves and branches that had fallen after a storm. With the different layers of the land- a mixture of pasture and corrugation and scrub as a backdrop- it was so beautiful that of course I had to paint it!
