Incredible ways to BOOST your child's learning.

3 easy proven tips to help them thrive…

Whether your kids do mainstream schooling, home-school, or are boarding, school is well and truly getting back into the swing of things.

Here are some great tips to get them off to a good start that are proven to boost their learning in a big way:

  1. Read together (if possible) or give them to opportunity to re-tell the books they've been reading. In this day and age whether we like it or not SCREENS are a big part of children's lives and have kind of taken over books in most cases. But reading (or being read to) really does have so many learning benefits such as improvements in vocabulary, thinking skills, writing skills, imagination, spelling and bonding time just to name a few.

  2. Get them excited about books! Maybe you could surprise them with a new book, take a trip to an op shop or garage sale and pick out some new books together, or dig out some old favourites to read together. Recently I found one of my favourite novels from when I was a kid and we lay out on the lawn together on the swag as I read it to the kids.

  3. Snaz up their learning area. Most homes have a special spot where homework/ learning takes place. For us it's just the kitchen table- but that's ok! We can still make it a place that the kids can get excited about. We have a little coffee table nearby where the kids keep their stationary, special stickers and learning books. My daughter has just started Prep so she's learning more about letters, numbers and reading/ writing now. I have my ‘Aussie ABC’ and ‘Aussie Numbers’ print close by so she can refer to them. These little touches to the home are simple and classy enough to fit in with the rest of the home but also help the kids to get excited that there are special things just for them to help them grow and learn.

These tips can help us to form good habits for a year full of learning and send our children off to school with a flying start. Helping to boost confidence and excitement about learning really makes a difference to kids learning and growth. A few little intentional changes from us as parents can do more for our children’s academic growth than you know!
