5 ways to make your kitchen healthier & happier

Most of us need a little motivation to keep preparing healthy food and get back into (and stay in) good habits. It makes ALLLL the difference if your kitchen is a place you ACTUALLY want to be in! There’s nothing worse than trying to find motivation to cook in a space that is drab, untidy and uninviting!

Here are a couple of quick, doable tips that can really give you that boost you need to embrace healthy habits for yourself and your family (and actually enjoy it).

  1. Deep clean. If you’re having trouble getting motivated in the kitchen starting off with cleaning can sound really off-putting…. but trust me- once you get started on one little task it will all start to flow and you’ll feel so much better because of it! Sometimes it helps to have a look on Pinterest or Instagram for some tidy kitchen inspo… but don’t spend too much time on there! Give everything a good scrub including the hard to reach places, fridge, windows and oven.

  2. Clean out your pantry! Look for some nifty ways to best organise the space so it brings you joy every time you open the door and so it’s functional for your family.

  3. Reward yourself for doing such a good cleaning job by adding a beautiful vase of fresh flowers or scented foliage to your kitchen bench! It’s amazing how bringing in a bit of nature can lift a space (and your mood).

  4. Put a few drops of your favourite essential oil into an oil diffuser or place a scented candle by your vase. So simple and yet these couple of things can make your kitchen look so inviting and smell amazing!

  5. NEW TEA TOWEL! Nothing sparks a kitchen up more than throwing your old, tatty, stained tea towels in the laundry hamper and replacing them with a beautiful, new, quality tea towel that sparks joy. Don’t just save the ‘good tea towels’ for when the visitors come! Carpe diem!! Enjoy your kitchen NOW. Enjoy creating beautiful, tasty, healthy food for you and your loved ones NOW. It really is such a blessing to be able to do this. We just all need a little boost and a fresh kitchen every now and then to remind us of this!
