The word ‘abide’ has been on my heart a lot lately. Jesus says to ‘abide in me and I in you’. We do this by reading the Holy Word. Every day I live I become more and more convinced that we need to be in the scriptures! I know it can be hard at times, but the more we seek God through the Word, the more of it we hunger for and the more we recognise the lies of the world.
I painted this after a dry creative spell. I was feeling so discouraged because I felt like I was trying so hard and everything I did was a flop. The Holy Spirit illuminated these words to me and reminded me to ‘cease striving’ and simply create and go about my day for the glory of God. When I reach for perfection, nothing I ever do will be good enough. But if I abide in Jesus, I know that His power will be made perfect in my weakness.
