I can't resist puppy dog eyes. Especially if they belong to a Border Collie.

I wanted to capture them in this piece!

The eyes are always one of the first things I paint when I’m working on an animal. It helps me to feel like I have a pal keeping me company! It helps the art that I’m working on feel real and instantly I form a connection with the little critter.

Curious Collie is part of my ‘Animal Antics’ collection- a group of artworks created to acknowledge the cute but very mischievous animal friends of ours!

As much as we love our animals let’s face it… they drive us nuts most of the time. I wanted to capture the funny, naughty, quirky little things they do with a feeling of whimsy and playfulness.

I also created this collection to be very minimalistic so that we can focus on their characteristics,
personality and the glint of cheekiness in their eyes!

Here’s to the escape artist, food scoffing, head butting, demanding animals in our lives.
